Renewal and penalties
Renewal & compliance
Commercial IRC: renew every financial year. Lapsed registrations pay a late-renewal surcharge (Tk 2,000 for 1–3 years up to Tk 25,000 for 6+ years for importers).
Common mistakes we fix
- Choosing too low an import limit — LCs above it are refused.
- Trade licence business type that does not mention import.
- Letting the chamber membership expire.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an LC to import under the new Import Policy Order?
Not always. The 2026-2029 order allows LC-less imports against purchase/sales contracts for many goods, but you still need a valid IRC and correct HS codes.
Is a trade licence enough to import?
No. Commercial imports need an IRC; your bank checks it before opening an LC.
